This is a Cloud & Infrastructure Engineering II position at the Associate level, which is part of the job family responsible for managing and optimizing technical infrastructure and ensuring the seamless operation of IT systems to support business needs effectively.

Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) Technology is the global technology department responsible for the design, development, delivery, and support of the technical solutions behind the products and services used by the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) business. The department is comprised of 10 organizations: Sales, Banking & Corporate-Client Technology, Investment Products & Markets Technology, Client Reporting, Core Processing, Private and International Wealth Management Technology, Technology Integration Office, Enterprise Infrastructure & Production Management, Capital Markets Application & Data Services, Deployment Planning & Release Management, and the Chief Operating Office.

This is a 2nd shift position - hours will typically be 4pm - 12pm ET. On call and weekend support will be required on occasion.

What you'll do in the role:
  • Monitoring, optimizing, and managing UNIX/Linux OS, system HW and application performance.
  • Perform application upgrades, patches, be able to identify and troubleshoot bugs that involved Tuxedo, Tomcat and Apache.
  • Be ready to lead and coordinate teams during system/application outages and execute tasks accordingly to minimize impact.
  • Attend project meeting and provide input to Project Managers/developers based on Systems Operations perspective, as well as planning for production launch execution.
  • Identify tasks which require automation and deploy automated process to minimize human intervention.
  • Management of Corporate common network services, i.e. DNS and DHCP services.
  • Enrolling users and maintaining system security.
  • Backup and recovery of OS and application information.
  • Weekend coverage rotation.

What you'll bring to the role:
  • 2+ years' experience in Unix/Linux systems administration.
  • Strong system/application trouble-shooting skills.
  • Ability to analyze information and draw conclusions on system performance and trends.
  • Ability to read and write scripts in some administrative language (Tk, Perl, ksh shell).
  • Proficiency in DNS, DHCP, NFS, LDAP, Application Load Balancing, TCP networking.
  • Comfortable with many aspects of UNIX systems administration, i.e. system installation and configuration, fundamentals of security, installing third-party software.
  • Web Tools - Apache, Java, Tomcat.
  • Unix Tools - ksh, sh, awk, sed, Perl.
  • High level of initiative and dedication.
  • Ability to manage projects efficiently. Equally, be able to demonstrate the willingness to lend a hand on projects not directly accountable for.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as individually with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Works well under pressure, in a very fast paced working environment.
  • Manages time effectively and according to priorities.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication skills.

Desired Skills:
  • BS degree in Computer Science preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of web and middleware-based technologies a plus
  • Relational database experience.
  • PHP, Python scripting experience.
  • LDAP - Security Setup

  • Security - Snort, tcpdump, snoop
