Job Details
Job Title: SQL Server DBA
Job Location: Remote
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Required Qualifications:
Database Administration (Primary Focus):
- 5-7 years SQL Server DBA experience across multiple versions (2012, 2016, 2019, 2022)
- Proven ability to work independently without senior DBA oversight
- Database maintenance plan creation and management
- Patching troubleshooting and implementation across SQL Server version environments
- Data refresh processes and automation
- Index optimization and performance tuning
- Backup/restore procedures and disaster recovery
Software Development (Secondary Focus but still required):
- 2-3 years development experience in EITHER .NET Core/C# OR React (both not required)
- Ability to follow established coding patterns and learn from senior developers
- Collaborative approach to working within development team structure
Nice to Have:
- Redis (NoSQL) experience
- MongoDB experience or NoSQL database exposure
- Print/manufacturing or complex transaction processing environment background
- Python scripting capabilities
Environment & Responsibilities:
- Manage approximately 500 SQL Server databases in stable, mature environment
- Perform monthly production-to-lower-environment data refresh processes
- Implement and maintain patching schedules and maintenance plans
- Contribute to internal order management system development
- Support integration with legacy systems (PSI), financial systems, and microservices architecture
- Collaborate with Infrastructure team (reports to Operations to ensure task prioritization)
Technology Stack:
- Microsoft stack: .NET Core, C#, SQL Server
- Frontend: React
- NoSQL: Redis (operational), MongoDB (coming soon)
- Cloud: AWS infrastructure
- Some Python applications in environment
The projected hourly range for this position is $60 to $70.
