Summary
The Senior Data Governance Analyst plays a key role in shaping and executing our data governance strategy, working closely with cross-functional teams to establish and enforce data management best practices. Leveraging technology, this role will be responsible for overseeing the organization's Business, Data, and Technical Assets through the management of an Enterprise Business Glossary and Data Catalog. The Senior Data Governance Analyst identifies data quality issues and discrepancies and implementing measures to improve and maintain data accuracy. The ideal candidate possesses strong understanding of data governance principles, data management practices, and has a keen eye for identifying and mitigating data quality issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead and execute data governance activities and initiatives in alignment with the Data Governance Program.
  • Help drive adoption of data ownership, data stewardship, and data governance processes across the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with the data governance framework that aligns with the Data Governance Program, policies, and organizational goals.
  • Drive improvements to data governance policies, standards, processes, and documentation through collaboration with team members.
  • Help drive organizational adoption of the data governance platform by providing user documentation, training, and demonstrations to ensure proper usage and adherence to processes and procedures.
  • Perform advanced tasks to ensure proper administration of the data governance platform.
  • Create and improve user guides, procedures, and other documentation to improve communication and understanding of the data governance platform.
  • Collaborate with other team members to identify additional documentation needs.
  • Manage the administration of the data governance platform and partner with product vendor to guide and ensure proper usage of the products functionality and maximize client's usage of the capabilities within the product.
  • Partner with data stewards and other subject matter experts to curate and govern terms and other assets in the business glossary.
  • Collaborate with data stewards on processes to enable data stewards to assume responsibility for curation and governance of terms and other assets.
  • Establish and maintain metadata standards, ensuring consistent and accurate documentation of data assets, data lineage, and data definitions.
  • Partner with data stewards and other subject matter experts to ingest, classify and categorize metadata based on sensitivity and establish criteria to protect sensitive information.
  • Maintain and improve the data quality framework to ensure alignment with the Data Quality Program Policy.
  • Monitor and assess data quality across various systems, identifying discrepancies and implementing measures to improve and maintain data accuracy.
  • Assist with the establishment of KPIs, metrics, and measurements to monitor data quality.
  • Design reports to improve the communication of effectiveness of data governance processes.
  • Define audit procedures and reports to identify areas of improvement of metadata content and data governance processes.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the data governance team, serving as a mentor to junior analysts and fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
  • Advocate and articulate the value of data governance while providing education and training to the enterprise community, including data stewards and data consumers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience (6+ years) in data governance, data management, or a related role.
  • Demonstrated experience (3+ years) using data governance platforms such as erwin Data Intelligence, Collibra, Alation, or Informatica.
  • Demonstrated experience (3+ years) using data quality platforms such as DQ Labs, Atacama, Precisely, or Informatica.
  • Demonstrated experience (3+ years) in data architecture, data analysis, data modeling, data mapping and data profiling.
  • Demonstrated experience with SQL.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Understanding and familiarity with healthcare insurance data is preferred.
  • Understanding of data privacy and protection regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, or other relevant laws and regulations is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and metadata management is a plus.
  • Experience defining and leading organizational change is a plus.
  • Experience and hands on knowledge of master and reference data management is a plus.
  • Industry certifications such as CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) are a plus.
