Elastic Cloud Storage (ECS) Engineer:

- Customer is looking for an ECS (Elastic Cloud Storage) Engineer to assist their team with their ECS environment.
- They would like this resource to also be able to teach their team extensively along the way and provide in depth knowledge transfer
- Customer may be willing to allow remote 1 day a week.
Job Summary:
Client is seeking a skilled ECS Resident Engineer to join our Residency Services team. This role focuses on providing on-site or remote expertise to customers deploying and managing Client Elastic Cloud Storage (ECS), a cloud-scale object storage platform. The Resident Engineer will work closely with customer IT teams to ensure successful implementation, optimization, and operation of ECS for workloads such as archival, cloud storage, data lakes, and compliance-driven data management. This is a customer-facing role requiring technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to drive digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deployment and Configuration:
- Install, configure, and deploy Client ECS solutions (software, appliances, or managed services) tailored to customer requirements.
- Set up ECS to support multiple protocols (e.g., S3, Atmos, CAS, Swift, NFSv3, HDFS) and integrate with customer applications.
- Optimization and Performance Tuning:
- Optimize ECS for scalability, resilience, and performance to meet enterprise-grade storage needs.
- Monitor and troubleshoot ECS environments to ensure high availability and data integrity.
- Customer Collaboration:
- Act as a trusted advisor to customer IT teams, providing guidance on ECS best practices and use cases (e.g., archival, backup, disaster recovery).
- Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and training to empower customer teams to manage ECS effectively.
- Project Management:
- Develop and execute project plans for ECS deployments, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
- Coordinate with Client s sales, support, and engineering teams to address customer needs.
- Integration and Modernization:
- Integrate ECS with existing IT infrastructure, including public/private clouds, NAS, or other storage systems.
- Support digital transformation initiatives by modernizing legacy applications with ECS.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Document configurations, processes, and recommendations for customer environments.
- Provide regular status updates and reports on ECS performance and project progress.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in storage, cloud, or data center technologies.
- Hands-on experience with object storage platforms (e.g., Dell ECS, AWS S3, or similar) is highly preferred.
- Prior experience with Dell storage solutions (e.g., ECS, Isilon, PowerStore) is a plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Deep understanding of object storage concepts, software-defined storage, and cloud-scale architectures.
- Proficiency with ECS components, including ECS OS, ECS software, and data client access (S3, Swift, etc.).
- Familiarity with storage protocols (S3, Atmos, CAS, Swift, NFSv3, HDFS) and integration with enterprise applications.
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix environments, networking, and storage management tools.
- Experience with backup, archival, and disaster recovery solutions is a plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in customer environments.
- Project management experience or certifications (e.g., PMP) are an advantage.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- Dell Technologies certifications in ECS or other storage solutions.
- Industry certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, VMware, or ITIL.
