Job Description:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Data Center Technician to join their dynamic team. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of physical components such as servers, network devices, and storage systems within a data center environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in data center operations and a proven track record of managing and organizing hardware equipment efficiently. This position requires physical presence at the data center and offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Install and remove physical components, servers, network devices, and storage systems in the data center following specific technical guidelines.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks including inspecting, cleaning, and replacing components to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Manage and organize network and power cables within data center racks and cabinets to maintain proper connections and airflow.
  • Identify and troubleshoot hardware and network issues, perform necessary repairs or replacements, and coordinate with relevant teams or vendors.
  • Securely mount and secure servers, switches, routers, and other devices onto racks or cabinets, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
  • Utilize monitoring tools to track and document data center metrics such as temperature, humidity, and power usage.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, configurations, and maintenance activities, ensuring timely completion of work orders and tickets.
  • Collaborate with network engineers, systems administrators, and facilities personnel to resolve issues and support data center operations.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Data Center Technician or similar role in an IT or data center environment.
  • Strong understanding of server, networking, and storage systems hardware.
  • Ability to physically handle installation and maintenance of data center equipment.
  • Experience with data center monitoring tools and software, such as Service Now.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to document processes and equipment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with various teams and vendors.
  • Availability for on-call duties to address urgent issues or maintenance outside of standard working hours.
  • Relevant technical certifications related to data center operations are preferred.
