This role is ideal for someone with strong Tableau fundamentals, solid attention to detail, and the drive to learn, take direction, and grow into a more advanced developer.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain executive-level Tableau dashboards with a strong focus on neatness, consistency, and error-free delivery.
- Build and troubleshoot advanced Tableau calculations, parameters, and logic.
- Work within a Tableau Server environment (currently 2024; migrating to 2025).
- Provide testing support during the Tableau 2025 upgrade, including identifying errors, performance issues, and load-time concerns.
- Collaborate closely with Data Engineering - all ETL and data transformations are handled by that team, so you will not create data sources.
- Use SQL to understand and validate data sources (SQL experience is highly beneficial).
- Support enhancements, revamps, and new feature additions across ~20 dashboards.
- Multitask across dashboards with varying levels of activity; act as a "firefighter" when urgent fixes arise.
- Take direction from senior developers while also contributing ideas and creative solutions.
- 3-5 years of Tableau development experience with a strong grasp of dashboard building fundamentals.
- Experience with advanced Tableau calculations and performance-minded design.
- Strong attention to detail - formatting, alignment, fonts, and layout matter.
- Ability to produce clean, polished dashboards suitable for leadership audiences.
- Comfortable taking direction and working within an established hierarchy.
- Initiative and drive - someone who holds themselves to a high standard of output.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize break/fix work alongside planned development.
- SQL experience (reading, validating, troubleshooting data sources).
- Testing or QA experience is a plus, especially for platform upgrades.
- Creative mindset - able to suggest improvements and explore alternative design options.
- Hybrid schedule: Onsite Tue/Wed/Thu; remote Mon/Fri (some flexibility available).
- All equipment, building access, and parking provided.
- Supportive team structure with two senior developers available for guidance.
- Opportunity to grow into more complex dashboard development and feature creation.
