Position: Cybersecurity Systems Penetration Tester

Location: Montpelier, VA

Duration: Long Term

Required skills

• 3 5 years of experience in penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and cybersecurity roles.
• Familiarity with penetration testing tools like Metasploit, Burp Suite, and frameworks for ethical hacking, including OWASP and NIST standards.
• Understanding of information security policies, network protocols, and industry standards.
• Proven ability to perform retesting to validate remediation efforts and ensure the closure of security gaps.
• Experience performing black box testing, authenticated testing, and endpoint penetration testing (REST endpoints, database systems).
• Experience with packet tracing and logging for penetration test activities and providing log files as deliverables.
• Knowledge of secure data destruction protocols and practices.
• Strong understanding of secure coding practices and database security vulnerabilities (SQL injection, privilege escalation, authentication bypass).

• Strong understanding of networking, operating systems, programming, and security tools.
• Ability to analyze complex systems and identify vulnerabilities.
• Clear and concise communication skills to explain technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to interpret data, identify patterns, and draw conclusions.
• Proficiency in scripting, operating systems (Linux and Windows), and programming languages like Python.
• Experience in logging and monitoring tools to trace and analyze network packets during penetration tests.
• Expertise in testing applications for multiple user roles and permissions, including role-based access testing.
• Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills to articulate findings and provide actionable recommendations.
• Proven ability to produce detailed and timely reports on security findings within strict deadlines.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to implement security solutions effectively.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.

Compensation for roles at Beacon Systems Inc depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
