Role Description:
The Systems/Network Engineer will have direct ownership and oversight of ASRS infrastructure and applications, including proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex system and application issues. The role requires strong technical expertise in multi-tiered application architectures, Microsoft Windows Server and client operating systems, and Linux Server environments. The ability to automate operational tasks using PowerShell or other automation tools is highly valued.
Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills are essential, along with demonstrated problem-solving abilities and critical thinking. The engineer must be able to work independently, follow established operational guidelines, and adapt to evolving agency needs while supporting a 24/7 mission-critical enterprise infrastructure spanning both public cloud and on-premises data center environments.
In addition to infrastructure management, this position will actively support DevOps initiatives and promote process automation to improve operational efficiencies and team capabilities. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate documentation for systems, processes, and procedures; identifying and addressing security vulnerabilities; and managing multi-tiered COTS applications, public cloud services, physical and virtual servers, storage arrays, security appliances, Active Directory and Group Policy, and secure remote access systems such as VDI and remote desktop.
The Systems/Network Engineer will adhere to established IT Service Management (ITSM) processes for Incident, Problem, Configuration, and Change Management. Regular duties involve ticket management, incident escalation handling, troubleshooting, and clear documentation of operational activities and resolutions. The position requires contributing to continuous improvement efforts within a collaborative, service-oriented IT environment.
Minimum qualifications include extensive experience supporting enterprise infrastructure, a thorough understanding of Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems, and operational automation experience using PowerShell or similar platforms. Proven customer service, problem-solving, and organizational abilities, along with the capacity to work independently in a fast-paced, operationally driven environment, are required. Experience working in 24/7, mission-critical enterprise environments is essential.
Preferred qualifications include a bachelor s degree in Computer/Information Systems or a related field, or five (5) years of enterprise-level server/network administration experience. Industry certifications related to AWS, Cisco, Microsoft, or VMware are desirable. Experience with DevOps practices, automation improvements, and supporting cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments is also preferred.
