Data Engineer

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a REMOTE Data Engineer for a contract assignment with one of our premier Management Consulting clients in New York, NY.

Responsibilities :

• Responsible for extracting large quantities data from IT systems, developing efficient ETL and data management processes, and building architectures for rapid ingestion and dissemination of key data.
• Working on projects and exchanging experiences with your colleagues means you will face new intellectual challenges on a daily basis, while continuously building your methodological knowledge and skills.
• Knowledge of agile software development process and familiarity with performance metric tools
• Strong proficiency in designing, implementing, and managing Kafka topics, brokers, and Connectors in high-throughput and low-latency environments.
• In-depth knowledge of data modeling concepts, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing principles.
• Hands-on experience with dbt for data transformation, Snowflake data warehousing, Postgres/Amazon Aurora/MySQL, and implementing Data Vault 2.0 methodology.
• Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, or Scala for data manipulation and integration tasks.
• Solid understanding of cloud technologies, particularly AWS services such as EKS, S3, Lambda, and IAM.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex data pipelines.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in quantitative field like Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or related field required.

Preferred Skills:

• Advanced degree is a strong plus
