The Staff Engineer - Military Flight Safety is a key technical leader responsible for ensuring the safety, airworthiness, and reliability of military aircraft systems. This role involves driving safety assessments, risk management strategies, and compliance with military aviation standards. The position requires deep technical expertise, leadership, and collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, and customer teams to uphold GE Aerospace's commitment to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC).

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead comprehensive safety analyses, including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Hazard Assessments.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure the safety of military aircraft systems.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for safety-related technical reviews and decision-making processes.
  • Provide advanced technical guidance on flight safety and reliability engineering principles.
  • Collaborate with design and systems engineering teams to ensure safety is integrated into all phases of product development.
  • Analyze field data and operational feedback to identify safety trends and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with military aviation standards, regulations, and certification requirements (e.g., MIL-STD, FAA, EASA).
  • Support airworthiness certification processes and customer safety audits.
  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and customer teams to address safety concerns and ensure alignment with GE Aerospace's SQDC priorities.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior engineers on safety and reliability best practices.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
