Technical Systems Administrator

Contract | 6+ Months

Job Summary

The Technical Systems Administrator is responsible for the provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure within the Business Area Network and internet-based environments. This role supports technical research and development to drive innovation and ensures that system hardware, operating systems, and software adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, partners, and customers.

Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and oversee servers, including configuration, installation, upgrades, security compliance, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide infrastructure support for business applications and platforms.
  • Maintain detailed inventory of automation systems and document network server configurations, licensing agreements, and third-party software.
  • Ensure proper backup systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Document repair, maintenance, and change requests through the IT department ticketing system.
  • Provide on-call after-hours support as part of a rotation schedule.
  • Collaborate with Application and Development teams to provide hardware support.
  • Proactively monitor infrastructure, including servers, to prevent and resolve issues.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot wired/wireless networks and related equipment.
  • Participate in testing new software and hardware.
  • Set up build machines and support software development environments.
  • Develop applications in iOS, Microsoft, Linux, JavaScript, Angular.js, and WebRTC (preferred).
  • Build prototype systems for demonstration and testing.
  • Maintain strong documentation and communication practices.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Travel to other locations as required for related duties.
  • Maintain strong interpersonal relationships and collaborate with technical engineers and employees.
  • Adhere to scheduled work hours and demonstrate punctuality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Compliance Responsibilities:
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies, procedures, and compliance regulations (internal and external).
  • Maintain compliance with corporate IT policies and procedures.
  • Uphold HIPAA and FDA compliance and security in accordance with business area policies and best practices.

Qualifications
Required Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and basic network routing protocols.
  • Experience in server maintenance, software installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with wired/wireless network infrastructure.
  • Ability to set up and manage build machines for software development.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (BA/BS required).
  • Relevant experience in system administration, network management, and software development preferred.
