Job Title: Azure Administrator (Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate - AZ-104 aligned)

Overview:
An Azure Administrator is a cloud IT professional responsible for implementing, managing, monitoring, and maintaining Microsoft Azure solutions. This role focuses on core services related to compute, storage, networking, identity, security, and governance in a cloud environment. Azure Administrators often collaborate with architects, developers, security teams, and DevOps engineers to ensure optimal performance, cost efficiency, security, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- **Manage Azure Identities and Governance:**
- Administer Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory): Create and manage users, groups, roles, and devices.
- Implement and manage role-based access control (RBAC), custom roles, and subscriptions.
- Configure Azure policies, resource locks, tags, and cost management for governance and optimization.
- **Implement and Manage Storage Solutions:**
- Configure Azure Storage accounts (Blob, File, Queue, Table).
- Manage data import/export, replication, and security (e.g., using AzCopy, shared access signatures).
- Handle backups, recovery, and performance optimization.
- **Deploy and Manage Compute Resources:**
- Provision and scale virtual machines (VMs), VM scale sets, and containers (e.g., Azure Kubernetes Service, Container Instances).
- Manage availability sets, proximity placement groups, and hybrid configurations.
- **Configure and Manage Virtual Networking:**
- Design and implement virtual networks (VNets), subnets, peering, and routing.
- Configure network security groups (NSGs), Azure Firewall, and application gateways.
- Manage hybrid connectivity (e.g., VPN, ExpressRoute) and traffic routing.
- **Monitor, Backup, and Secure Resources:**
- Use Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Insights for performance monitoring and alerting.
- Implement backups, disaster recovery, and site recovery.
- Ensure security through Microsoft Defender for Cloud, multifactor authentication (MFA), and compliance policies.
- Optimize costs by analyzing usage and implementing auto-scaling.
- **Additional Duties:**
- Automate tasks using PowerShell, Azure CLI, ARM templates, or Bicep.
- Troubleshoot issues related to resources, connectivity, and performance.
- Stay updated with Azure features and best practices for continuous improvement.
**Required Skills and Qualifications:**
- Proficiency in Azure core services (compute, storage, networking, identity).
- Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Azure CLI) and infrastructure as code.
- Knowledge of on-premises technologies (e.g., Active Directory, Windows/Linux servers) for hybrid scenarios.
- Strong understanding of security, compliance, and cost management.
- **Certification:** Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) is highly recommended or required.
- Experience: 1-3+ years in cloud administration; familiarity with virtualization, networking, and IT operations.
**Preferred Skills:**
- Experience with monitoring tools (Azure Monitor), containers, or DevOps practices.
- Basic knowledge of related services like Azure SQL, App Services, or Redis Cache.
