Job Details

Job Title: UX Researcher
Location: Wisconsin/Illinois
The UX Researcher needs to have expertise:
Competently run quality studies on their own coordinating with key stakeholders throughout the process, can do discovery research through early usability testing, can explain design thinking and UX research clearly to those with no background, and ideally not only has healthcare research experience but also specifically has magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) experience (or at least imaging experience e.g., CT, X-Ray, etc.).

Understand and be able to explain to others how research fits into the various aspects of the design process from very early exploratory efforts through post-launch
Have experience planning and executing both qualitative and quantitative research; understand and be able to apply a range of methods including ethnographic-inspired methodologies, in-depth interviews, surveys, card sorts, tree tests, usability tests, etc.
Frame, scope, plan, structure, and lead execution of UX and Design research projects, largely independently to address UX and product research needs
Select and apply appropriate user research methods to address UX and product research needs
Plan and conduct interview sessions with users and stakeholders, including executives
Conduct analysis and synthesis of user research to distill the most important insights and implications, linking them together through frameworks, maps, and principles as appropriate, to inform design
Frame reports, write-ups and insights in a way that inspires design teams to develop imaginative and appropriate solutions
Have proven experience in uncovering unmet user needs, and unpacking meaning from sometimes obscure and disparate findings
Be confident about leading teams and users through a range of research planning, execution, analysis and synthesis processes using strong facilitation skills
Create and share research artifacts, findings, reports, and recommendations with stakeholders in compelling ways (for executive summaries, reports, key findings and insights, case studies); utilize compelling storytelling to deliver insights about people and behavior verbally and visually in a way that generates empathy, emotion, and engagement
Propose designs, features, or changes to product solutions based on research and synthesis outcomes; influence change
Run standardized distance, accessibility and metaphor evaluation tests for Edison Design System components
Research and evaluate emerging design, technology, and industry trends and competitive products;
champion new ideas and approaches as appropriate
Communicate design insights and opportunities throughout all phases of design process and product lifecycle, from concept to release
Help manage, oversee, monitor, and optimize candidate recruitment, approvals, costs, and 3rd party vendors
Be open to participating in usability analysis efforts to populate supporting documentation, including FDA-mandated formative & summative usability testing for healthcare products
Bonus: Lead design thinking / co-creation/ service design workshops that take stakeholders through various aspects of the design thinking process
