Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for an IT Telecom Analyst for a contract assignment with one of our premier Utility services clients in Albuquerque or Santa Fe, NM.

Responsibilities :
The Telecom Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for designing, planning, installing, configuring, and supporting the Internet Protocol (IP) telephony infrastructure, including voice gateways, servers, system software, phones, and peripheral devices. TELECOM INFRASTRUCTURE SPECIALIST Under general supervision, performs duties in a supporting role to senior and lead levels.
  • Conducts analysis of IP Telephony/Network infrastructure needs and contributes to the design, integration, and installation of present and future technology, including communication with vendors regarding available products, enhancements, and services.
  • Conducts test and evaluation of hardware/software to determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with existing systems.
  • Monitors and maintains IP Telephony/Network infrastructure stability while supporting root cause analysis related to malfunctioning or inoperative hardware/software and routine maintenance, including scheduled maintenance and backups.
  • Conducts analysis, planning, design, and execution of IP Telephony/Network infrastructure projects, including maintenance and creation of documentation related to all components.
  • Conducts installation of hardware/software by third parties.
  • Provides support and training to users relevant to all installed or future IP Telephony/Network infrastructure.
  • Conducts development of an emergency plan to deal with a catastrophic event and ensures plan is updated to meet current business needs.
  • Conducts setup, configuration, moves, etc. to support new hires and movement of personnel and offices.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Analyzes IP Telephony/Network infrastructure needs and contributes to the design, integration, and installation of present and future technology, including communication with vendors regarding available products, enhancements, and services.
  • Coordinates tests and evaluates hardware/software to determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with existing systems.
  • Administers and coordinates telecommunications activities concerned with planning, acquisition, design, installation, and maintenance of voice, data, and video equipment and systems for an organization.
  • Administers and participates in studies conducted on existing communications systems and equipment, such as present and projected volume of communications, effectiveness, and adequacy of system, and estimated equipment replacement and maintenance costs.
  • Provide analysis, planning, design, and execution of IP Telephony/Network infrastructure projects, including maintenance and creation of documentation related to all components.

Required Skills:
  • High School or General Education Diploma
  • Three (3) years of work experience in telecom infrastructure, information technology, Cisco operations and/or IP Telephony.
  • One (1) year of work experience in telecom infrastructure, information technology, and/or Cisco operations.
  • Hands-on experience with telecom, routing, and switching.
  • Developed knowledge of Transmission Control Protocol and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) for management of telecom devices, and Open Systems Interconnection reference model (OSI) with emphasis on the bottom three layers. Developed knowledge of Wide Area Network (WAN) topologies such as switching, fast Ethernet, and virtual LAN.
  • Ability to use telecom monitoring tools to gather telecom statistics and interpret meaningful information.
  • Ability to identify and evaluate infrastructure needs to justify and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to support all phases of project management, including site planning, installation, migration, and implementation.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Licenses/Certifications Required: Cisco CCNA-Voice, Cisco CCNA-Collaboration, or other entry level voice /Telecom certification.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the acceptable driving record requirements of the Company.
Preferred Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related technology field.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Collaboration or other industry recognized professional level voice / Telecom certification.
  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational, analytical, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the capacity to interact with business partners, IT team members, and senior management.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)-Voice, CCNA-Collaboration, or other entry level voice /Telecom certification.
  • Two (2) years of experience in telecom infrastructure, information technology, or Cisco operations.
  • Basics in Cisco Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) / Telephony such as Cisco Unified Communications (CUCM), Unity, Jabber, Unified Contact Center Express (UCCX), Unified Contact Center Enterprise (UCCE), etc. Basics in Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). Basic Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Incident, Change, Configuration, Problem Management. Session Border Controller technology. Basic Telephony skills: Wide Area Network (WAN)/ Telco carrier products (Plain Old Telephone Services (POTS), Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN), T1, Primary Rate Interface (PRI), DS3, Interactive Voice Response (IVR), Cat3/5e/6, SM/MM fiber optics, coax).
  • Basics with switching: Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN), Voice VLAN, VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP), Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), Power over Ethernet (PoE), Ether channel, Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP), Routing Protocols. Basic Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Incident, Change, Configuration, Problem Management. Session Border Controller technology.
