Job: SQL Database Administrator
Hybrid
Location (if onsite/hybrid): Candidates must be local to Trenton, NJ and be willing to go onsite to client office three times per week.
Expected duration: 7 months from candidate's start date
Interview process: 2 interviews with Client - 1 virtual technical interview, and 1 onsite interview - must be local
Required skills, experience, etc.: 3 5 years of hands-on experience in SQL Server administration (versions 2012 and newer), strong familiarity with SQL Server migration tools and processes (e.g., Data Migration Assistant, backup/restore, Always On, log shipping), proficiency in T-SQL and scripting for automation, experience with SQL Server features (jobs, indexes, users/roles, performance plans), working knowledge of SSMS, SSIS, SSRS, and SQL Profiler, experience with cloud-based migrations (Azure SQL, AWS RDS), strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills, ability to work in hybrid/on-prem environments, and solid communication and documentation abilities.
Job Description
We are seeking a Mid-Level SQL Server Migration DBA to assist with planning, executing, and validating database migrations.
This role requires hands-on experience in SQL Server administration and migration tools across multiple versions and platforms.
This is a full-time contract opportunity and will be hybrid onsite in Trenton, NJ.
What You'll Do
Assist with the assessment and documentation of existing SQL Server environments
Support database migration efforts, including backup/restore, scripting, data transfers, and validation
Perform routine health checks and troubleshooting during and after migrations Collaborate with senior DBAs, infrastructure, and application teams Execute test migrations and contribute to performance tuning and optimization
Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and security compliance throughout the migration process
Maintain documentation and support incident resolution post-migration
What You'll Need
3-5 years of hands-on experience in SQL Server administration and support (versions 2012 through latest)
Familiarity with SQL Server migration processes and tools (e.g., Data Migration Assistant, backup/restore, always on, or log shipping)
Proficiency in T-SQL and scripting for automation
Working knowledge of SQL Server features like jobs, indexes, users/roles, and performance plans
Experience supporting on-premises and/or hybrid environments
Strong understanding of SQL Server tools: SSMS, SSIS, SSRS, and SQL Profiler
Hands-on experience with database migration tools and techniques
Experience with cloud-based migration (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS for SQL Server)
Troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
Good communication and documentation capabilities
Willingness to learn and work in a team-oriented setting
Ability to follow directions while also taking initiative when neede
