Job Details

The Data Center Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Data Center and accountable for ensuring the Data Center operations meet the functionality and reliability to meet customer Service Level Agreements and expectations. The Data Center Manager will maintain, monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot data center equipment and software. They will report overall events occurring in the Data Center and escalate to management when problems arise. They will plan, direct, and coordinate all daily activities in the Data Center, including, but not limited to managing and installing vendor upgrades, replacing cables, components, and accessories, maintaining records, and drawing schematics of the Data Center to detail what equipment is installed. When required, the Data Center manager will respond to Customer inquiries and coordinate with other organizations. Additionally, they are responsible for scheduling employee shifts and activities, planning for capacity changes, maintaining corporate databases, and ensuring compliance with government regulations. The Data Center Manager will be responsible for disaster recovery planning, system security, capacity planning, storage management, crisis management, problem management, facilities management, and system upgrades, programming, and support.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Experience

Six years of related experience. Requires advanced knowledge in highly specialized systems and procedures.

Qualifications:

*Bachelor's degrees (Desire a minimum of 8 years of professional related experience and specialized training in place of Bachelor's Degree).

*4 years of Data Center Management desired.

*8 years of managerial experience desired.

*Ability to create technical procedural documentation.

*Effective communication skills essential.

*Experience facilitating high-quality support to internal or external customers through proactive initiatives and responsive resolution to help desk and or service request tickets.

*Experience with multiple disaster recovery scenarios is desired.

*Experience with problem-solving process, incident management, problem management, crisis management, and root cause analysis.

*Experience with Qlogic, Brocade, and fiber switch products.

*Experience with server and storage best practices.

*Familiar with EMC storage products or other storage products.

*Industry SAN certification (Administration, Architect, Engineer) preferred.

*Knowledge of communications products and technologies.

*Knowledge of contract negotiation and vendor management.

*Knowledge of Data Center Operations (i.e. environmental management, power management, and space management).

*Neat, pleasant demeanor, and confident personality.

*Organized and accurate, with good knowledge of English grammar and spelling.

*Requires general knowledge of the business environment.

*Requires intermediate knowledge of storage and SAN technologies, Virtual technologies, hardware, software, and related tools.

*Requires strong customer service orientation, proven ability to pay attention to details, proven dependability, promptness, and solid attendance history.

*Understanding of industry security practices and compliance.
