Role: Automation Process Engineer

Location: Redland, CA - onsite

Job Type: Full Time

Job Description:

The Automation Process Engineer helps improve and scale factory automation. You ll work on developing and fixing factory equipment and make sure machines run smoothly in the plant. You ll support multiple sites and be part of a national engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Improve equipment and processes to make factory work better and faster.
  • Help bring new machines into the plant and make sure they work well.
  • Guide and support automation technicians.
  • Work with other engineers to share best practices and solve problems.
  • Use data to find ways to improve machine performance and production.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and quality teams.
  • Make sure all work follows safety rules.
  • Lead setting up and fixing manufacturing lines at different locations, with travel up to 50%.

Basic Skills

  • 2 10 years working in engineering or operations.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other improvement methods.
  • Experience with FANUC robot programming and Allen Bradley PLCs or similar.
  • Good communication skills and able to work well with different teams.
  • Able to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Experience fixing factory equipment like robots, conveyors, and packaging machines.
  • Safety awareness for factory work.
  • Bachelor s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Willing to travel up to 50%.

Preferred

  • Strong skills in engineering analysis.
  • Good with Microsoft Office and data tools like Excel or Power BI.
  • Certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar.
  • Key focus on controls and automation with mechanical engineering background. Allen Bradley PLC knowledge preferred.
  • Robotics and FANUC experience a plus.
  • Ideal fit would be someone who has worked on systems integration or worked for OEM on projects.
  • Job duties include 50% plant-level engineering to manage change and implement automation, and 50% looking at future of automation and plan out process improvements.
  • Will require up to 50% travel to different Sojo plants and facilities.
  • This person needs to have an innovative, forward-looking mindset about technology while having hands-on experience without ego.
