Position Description

The Power BI / SSRS Developer will translate business and technical requirements to high-value data visualizations and reports. The candidate will work directly with product owners and data analysts to understand requirements and implement BI solutions. Duties include:

  • Translate business and technical requirements into high-value reports and data visualizations.
  • Collaborate with product owners and analysts to understand reporting needs and data context.
  • Connect to diverse data sources, import, clean, and transform data using Power BI tools.
  • Develop and maintain SSRS reports, and Power BI dashboards tailored to user needs.
  • Ensure data governance and enforce security protocols, including Row-Level Security (RLS).
  • Optimize data models and apply best practices in data warehousing and reporting design.
  • Write efficient and complex SQL queries to support data extraction and transformation.
  • Implement DAX expressions to enable advanced metrics and calculations in Power BI.

The projected compensation range for this position is $115,000 to $140,000 (annualized USD). The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as internal pay equity, location, contract-specific affordability and other organizational requirements.

Required Skills
  • 7+ years of experience in Information Technology, with at least 5 years in Business Intelligence using Power BI and SSRS.
  • Advanced expertise in Data Visualization, Analytics, and SQL.
  • Strong proficiency with Power Query, data modeling techniques, and Power BI Service features.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, including ETL, star schema, fact/dimension tables.
  • Hands-on experience with DAX, Power BI Gateways, and managing user access and permissions.
  • Familiarity with data governance, data security standards, and best practices.
Desirable Skills
  • Understanding of data modeling concepts, including star schema, fact, and dimension tables.
  • Microsoft Certification, such as Power BI Data Analyst Associate or similar.
  • Previous experience supporting federal government agencies or similar regulated environments.
  • Public Trust Clearance (active or previously held).
