Job Title: Lead Data Engineer Google Cloud Platform
Location: Dallas, TX or Tampa, FL (Hybrid)

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Data Engineer with strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) to design, build, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance data pipelines and platforms. This role will lead technical initiatives and provide architectural guidance for cloud-native data solutions that empower Verizon s digital transformation efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and optimize data pipelines, architectures, and data sets using Google Cloud Platform tools (BigQuery, Dataflow, Composer, Cloud Functions, etc.).
Lead end-to-end development of cloud-based data engineering solutions for batch and real-time processing.
Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and application teams to understand requirements and translate them into scalable data architecture.
Implement ETL/ELT frameworks and best practices in data ingestion, transformation, and quality.
Develop reusable frameworks and modules to accelerate development and improve consistency.
Ensure data integrity, governance, security, and compliance across systems and pipelines.
Monitor and troubleshoot data workflows and drive performance tuning and cost optimization.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team-wide best practices and technical leadership.
Work closely with cross-functional teams in Agile/DevOps environment to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of data solutions.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
6+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 3 years on Google Cloud Platform.
Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and working knowledge of Spark, Airflow, or equivalent orchestration tools.
Hands-on experience with BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Composer, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, and Terraform.
Deep understanding of data architecture, data warehousing, and real-time/batch data processing.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Google Cloud Platform Professional Data Engineer or Architect Certification.
Master s degree in a technical or quantitative field.
Experience in the telecommunications or large-scale enterprise data environments.
Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and security in Google Cloud Platform.
Exposure to streaming data platforms like Kafka or Pub/Sub.
Experience in DevOps, cost optimization, and monitoring in cloud environments.
