This is what you will do:

The Business System Analyst serves as an innovative and collaborative business partner with responsibility for the successful delivery of solutions in support of strategic business initiatives. This individual must apply creative thinking, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of our IT system investments. The Business System Analyst serves as a liaison between multiple business functions within the US Commercial areas and technology teams to define processes, identify process improvement opportunities, and implement new functionality that enable delivery of business objectives through the use of technology. This role will partner with a Project manager and Solution Delivery manager to ensure projects are managed to the original requirements, tested and delivered on time and on budget meeting business needs. This is a business-facing and technology-facing role, requiring excellent communication and organizational skills to create alignment across multiple stakeholders.

You will be responsible for:
  • Understand and prioritize business requirements from multiple collaborators applying specialist knowledge where applicable.
  • Proactively seeks out opportunities to enhance and improve in line with strategic goals.
  • Interpret business requirements and simplify them for easy analysis, solution design and decision making to positively impact/solve medium risks/issues.
  • Effectively communicate impact, cost and benefits of new and changed demands.
  • Provide insight & innovation to projects within own specialist area, aligning to Alexion/AZ IT strategy and working with Alexion/AZ IT partners.
  • Work with business and IT Business partners to propose and deliver solutions to achieve agreed outcomes, ensuring that solutions fulfil their future strategic needs and challenges.
  • Shape and define arguments, producing detailed business justification for investment including value and benefits realization.
  • Work with colleagues across the technology teams, (e.g., architects and engineers) within the function to identify the capabilities required to ensure outcomes/requirements and clearly understood and can be delivered.
  • Work with Process/Product owners to identify and devise solutions that optimize business process performance, capability, and competitiveness.
  • Facilitate and lead design sessions with the business and implementation team to identify functional and technical requirements.
  • Defining project scope and goals for small projects that deliver or support delivery of effective solutions.
  • Setting a budget and schedule.
  • Hands on leadership, planning, coordination, and delivery of aspects of key projects, including facilitation of meetings, tracking, reporting and communicating progress, as well as risks and issues as necessary.
  • Collate information from relevant sources for analysis and reporting relevant data trends for informed decision making for positive business impact.
  • Communicate with the relevant collaborators and transfer relevant knowledge to delivery teams, i.e., translation using levels of interactive communication and influencing skills. Contributes to communication plans and organizational change for project and collaborators.
  • Supports business for service tracking/issues/problems/incidents, as well as with IT satisfaction and improvements. Captures delivery feedback from customers.

You will need to have:
  • 3-5 Years of experience as a Business Analyst
  • Previous experience working in a pharmaceutical or life sciences background or equivalent
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully managing IT projects end to end, both waterfall and agile
  • Demonstrable experience of working with complex integrated systems, using creative and critical thinking to deliver exceptional results
  • Strong engagement, communication and customer management skills, including presentation and influencing skills
  • Experience of working in a regulated environment
  • The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. As is typical of an office-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.

We would prefer for you to have:
  • Bachelor's degree in a biopharmaceutical or IT field is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies.
  • Pharmaceutical business background with experience supporting Patient Services organizations is preferred
  • Experience of virtual teamwork to lead, shape and develop innovative solutions
  • Experience of working with and managing third party suppliers/vendors
