Position Title: Senior Linux System Administrator (Rapid Response)

Location: Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO

Relocation Assistance: None available at this time

Shift: Day shift

Travel Required: Up to 10% of the time

This position has a requirement to provide occasional evening, holiday and/or weekend support as directed by the government customer to meet mission objectives. This support may be required with short or no notice.

This support will consist of onsite administrative activities, including hardware maintenance, software installation, troubleshooting efforts, and other actions required to meet the mission.

This position comes with a higher level of compensation (provided as a $6000 quarterly stipend) based on the flexibility required.

Description of Duties:

The Senior Linux System Administrator (Rapid Response) supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:
Build, configure, deploy, administer, maintain and troubleshoot virtual and physical servers/systems
Ensure system changes are completed in accordance with developer documentation, configuration management and documentation practices
Utilize and follow developer-provided documentation to build and configure server/system hardware and software to baseline specifications
Research technologies and leverage optimization techniques to ensure systems operate efficiently
Perform necessary physical inspections and research using system/event logs and appropriate tools/software to identify problems, trends and aid in troubleshooting actions
Assist integration managers in problem definition and root cause analysis as needed
Provide timely updates to appropriate team leads, managers and stakeholders on status of tasks and troubleshooting efforts
Make recommendations to plan, develop and execute work plans that achieve critical-path requirements
Identify developer-documentation errors and provide to appropriate channels / personnel for correction
Use REMEDY ticketing system to report, track and document problems and resolution life-cycle actions on faulty systems

Basic Requirements:
Must have 12, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience

o May be reduced with completion of advanced degree
Must have 8 years of directly related experience in IT systems, installing and configuring operating systems and virtual machines, and troubleshooting
Must have 2 years of experience working in a management or leadership role
Must have experience building, configuring and deploying servers/systems using VMware 7.0 (or higher)
Must have administration experience on RHEL 7 / 8 using Command Line Interface
Have experience working with Ansible automation
Knowledge of Missile Defense, DoD communications systems and MDIOC operations
Must have a current DoD approved 8570 Level II certification such as Security+ CE
Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Requirements:
Have experience configuring and managing NetApp storage devices
Have network troubleshooting experience
Have experience implementing Multi Factor Authentication methodology
Have experience with HP server hardware
Degree in an IT or Engineering related discipline

This position is expected to pay $125,000 - $135,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
