Job Details
We are looking for a leader with past experience in building and implementing a data governance program in a technically innovative firm to optimize the value of our data assets and digital products that provide revenue-generating insights. In this role, you will oversee the strategy of data governance from its conception to implementation, creating unified guidelines for data quality, integrity and compliance within the organization. You will define data quality standards, how data can be cleansed and also align with security standards within the digital organization.
You will lead 3-5 data professionals and work and provide guidance and mentorship in achieving a unified data governance program. Part of the role will involve educating colleagues on new data standards and partnering with the data science/analytics and technology divisions that consume and build products on top of the data. You will create a data governance council and establish lines of communication to improve data quality, policies, and guidance on best practices.
We are also seeking someone who can drive innovation in how data is consumed and used in the organization. This is a cutting edge organization that has made strides in machine learning, data science and analytics and is moving into Generative AI and Large Language Modeling (LLMs), so the right person for this position will stay up-to-date with new developments in the data landscape.
Communication skills are of high importance, as you will interface with key stakeholders across approximately 8 full-scale teams in the organization as well as C-level executives and directors of a Fortune 500 company.
This role requires an onsite presence 2-3 days per week.
Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
- 10 years of experience in the fields of data analytics and data governance.
- Prior experience establishing a new data governance program in a commercial setting.
- 5+ years of leadership experience, interfacing with cross-functional teams
- Ability to influence and educate stakeholders on aspects related to data governance, data changes, new policies, etc.
- Experience analyzing and interpreting large data sets (i.e. hundreds of millions of data points)
- Prior experience with Python and SQL are required.
- Experience in an Azure ecosystem is a plus.
- Experience with Tableau data visualization.
- Experience with data privacy laws such as CCPA, GDPR and security protocols for data compliance.
- Interest in emerging data science and analytics concepts (i.e. Gen AI / LLM)
- Excellent communication skills and project management experience
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, statistics, mathematics, or another technical degree, or 10+ years of professional experience in the field.
