Power BI Expert (with Spotfire Experience)

CA - Fully Remote

We re seeking a Power BI professional who also has hands-on experience working with Spotfire dashboards and visualizations, specifically to support a migration effort. You should be comfortable analyzing existing Spotfire assets and translating them into Power BI equivalents, understanding differences in data modeling, filter logic, and expressions. This role requires familiarity with Spotfire s data wrangling, calculations, and filters, and a solid ability to map/report across platforms.

Responsibilities & Requirements

< data-start="1047" data-end="1077">1. Power BI Expertise</>

  • Strong experience in building interactive dashboards in Power BI

  • Highly proficient in designing & implementing for performance (data load and presentation, performance monitoring and tuning)

  • Knowledge of Power Query (M language) for data transformation

  • Proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for calculated columns, measures, and KPIs

  • Ability to design data models (star schema, snowflake, normalization/denormalization)

  • Experience publishing reports to Power BI Service, including workspace management, row/object-level security, and scheduled refreshes

< data-start="1666" data-end="1718">2. Stakeholder Engagement & Solution Design</>

  • Facilitate discussions to identify KPIs, data sources, and business goals

  • Translate complex business questions into intuitive and actionable dashboards

  • Ensure solutions are aligned with stakeholder expectations and drive business value

  • Present findings and prototypes clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Iterate quickly based on stakeholder feedback while maintaining best practices in BI development

< data-start="2159" data-end="2207">3. Spotfire Knowledge (for translation)</>

  • Familiarity with Spotfire dashboards, visualizations, and calculations

  • Understanding of how Spotfire handles data wrangling, expressions, and filters

  • Ability to analyze existing Spotfire assets and map them to Power BI equivalents

< data-start="2452" data-end="2495">4. Data Integration and ETL Skills</>

  • Experience connecting to SQL databases, Excel, cloud sources, etc.

  • Comfort with cleaning, transforming, and modeling data

  • Basic knowledge of ETL workflows

< data-start="2664" data-end="2712">5. Migration / Replatforming Experience</>

  • Past experience migrating dashboards from one BI tool to another (ideally Spotfire to Power BI)

  • Knowledge of feature/function equivalencies and gaps between tools

  • Ability to manage issues like data refresh frequency, filter logic, and visual design differences
