Job Description:
Mountain Empire Community College is a comprehensive two-year college serving residents of Lee, Scott, Wise, and Dickenson counties, and the City of Norton. MECC is one of twenty-three colleges in the Virginia Community College System and operates under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Local Advisory Board. The College is financed primarily with state funds, supplemented by contributions from the local jurisdictions.
To perform work of considerable difficulty by planning and prioritizing the installation, diagnostics, and repair, and testing of a variety of computer and/or networking equipment such as personal computers and their peripherals. Oversee the work of vendor and contract personnel.
Maintain detailed records on equipment and parts inventory, network configuration tables, equipment maintenance schedules, intra/inter-building cabling schemes, splices and repairs. Evaluate vendors products to ensure that they meet purchasing specifications and that purchases are in accord with the colleges general technology spending plan. Performs all purchasing and inventory for the department; maintain financial records and reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform in the position:
CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, and/or Cisco CCNA certifications.
Experience with inventory management.
Associate's degree or higher in a related field.
