Trigyn's direct government client based out of Waterbury, Vermont has multiple openings for QA Test Engineer. The particulars of the position are as follows.
Description:
The Quality Assurance (QA) Test Engineer will support existing state positions by ensuring the quality, reliability, and functionality of software applications. This role provides a structured approach to testing, covering all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC). Depending on experience and expertise, the QA Test Engineer will take on responsibilities ranging from test execution and defect tracking to test planning, automation, and mentoring junior testers. This role supports statewide collaboration and ensures alignment with program objectives.
General Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
? Analyze and understand functional and non-functional business and technical requirements.
? Review user stories to assess their impact on testing strategies and ensure traceability between test cases and requirements.
? Design and draft positive and negative test cases to ensure comprehensive coverage.
? Participate in continuous improvements to the testing process through retrospectives and lessons learned.
? Work collaboratively across state agencies, adapting to various stakeholders, functions, and cultural contexts to ensure cohesive testing efforts.
Senior Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
? Possess 3-5 years of working knowledge and practical experience as a Software Tester in a lead or management role, utilizing industry standards and methodologies.
? Lead system testing phases, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT), ensuring thorough coverage and high-quality standards.
? Hold or be in the process of obtaining certifications from recognized organizations such as the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB), American Software Qualifications Board (ASTQB), or the Association for Software Testing (AST).
? Mentor junior testers and ensure adherence to QA standards and best practices.
? Evaluate quality specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and actionable feedback.
? Develop and maintain automation testing suites for regression testing, ensuring software reliability across updates (where applicable).
? Coordinate testing phases with the test manager, estimating and prioritizing activities to optimize resource allocation.
? Continuously improve testing methodologies and processes through retrospectives and lessons learned.
? Communicate plans, risks, and metrics across departments and stakeholders, advocating for quality in all phases of the project lifecycle.
Junior-Level Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
? Possess between 0-3 years of working knowledge and practical experience as a Software Tester, utilizing industry standards and methodologies.
? Work towards gaining certifications from recognized organizations such as ISTQB, ASTQB, or AST.
? Assist in developing and executing simple automation test cases for regression testing (where applicable).
? Support test execution by documenting results, identifying defects, and following established defect management protocols.
Deliverables:
? Test Plan: Develop and maintain a Test Plan document outlining the test strategy, tools, and methodologies to be used during all testing phases (Senior-level responsibility).
? Test Scenarios: Develop test scenario artifacts during the ideation phases of the SDLC.
? Test Cases: Create test cases following industry best practices, ensuring readiness prior to execution cycles.
? Test Execution Reports: Provide status updates on active testing cycles to test managers, testing teams, and project stakeholders (Senior-level responsibility).
