Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Support a mission-critical enterprise application w/ ~20,000 users by administrating/managing the underlying Microsoft SQL Server database and providing Tier-3 user support.
  • Work closely with the developers and cross-functional team for design, development, testing, verification, and implementation in database/SQL Server related activities.
  • Design, develop, and maintain database objects and models, including writing queries, stored procedures, triggers, views, database mail and implementing integrity constraints and indexes.
  • Develop and optimize database solutions, including query tuning, index optimization. Creating SQL scripts to migrate, transform, and load data from one schema version to another without any loss of data.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for SQL Server environments (Production, Non-Production), conduct code reviews, and assist user helpdesk requests.
  • Manage and maintain database systems, including backup and recovery plans, security, disaster recovery, and interfaces with internal and external systems.
  • Conduct capacity planning, stakeholder consultations, and incident analysis, while ensuring system documentation is up-to-date and infrastructure needs are met.
  • Perform routine health check of the production and non-production database environment.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to the development team members regarding database design/implementation and data migration.
  • Occasional extended work and weekend work are required.
  • Interface w/ end-users as Tier-3 and Tier-2 helpdesk support for most-complex end-user related challenges which likely require back-end data-fixes.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of practical (hands-on) experience in SQL Server database administration and data modeling providing development DBA support.
  • 8+ years of experience of Database Developer and Administration-Microsoft SQL Server-CORE.
  • Thorough knowledge and hands-on experience of SQL Server databases along with skills in data manipulation mechanisms such as SQL, stored procedures, views and triggers, etc.
  • Thorough knowledge of relational database principles, techniques, and best practices.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in administration, programming and daily operations and support of Microsoft SQL Server versions including SQL Mail, Administration of SQL Jobs, backup and recovery, stored procedures, user defined functions, data modeling, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience in Database Administration-Performance Tuning-SQL Server
  • 5+ years of experience with SVN, Visual Studio, REST client.
  • 8+ years of experience in Business Analysis-Data Analysis-Microsoft SQL
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, packaging, and deploying web applications is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment under deadline pressure and managing competing priorities is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and communicate with various teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Experience working with Government clients in the health sectors.
  • Active Public Trust Clearance or ability to get public trust clearance.

Education:

  • BS/MS degree in MIS, CS, or related discipline is required.
  • Education requirement can be substituted with 15 years of relevant IT experience, considering qualifications requirements are met.
