Job Summary

The Data Modeler will be responsible for developing logical and physical data models, in Traditional Data Stores (MSSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL (Snowflake). The role will develop, test and implement scripts, programs, and related processes to collect, manage, publish metadata from data models. The data modeler will work closely with architects, developers and other data consumers to understand their needs and create appropriate data models.

Education & Experience

Required:

Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information technology or a similar field, or equivalent work experience
3 Years of hands on data modeling
Experience with metadata management and related tools
Experience with relational, dimensional, and NoSQL data modeling
Experience with data management standards and data model practices
Experience with physical data structures in MSSQL, Oracle and Snowflake using Erwin
Experience with SDLC and DevOps

Preferred:

Knowledge of Healthcare Industry and Healthcare Data files
Knowledge of mathematical foundations and statistical analysis
Strong interpersonal skills
Experience with team management
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Advanced troubleshooting skills

Key Responsibilities

Analyzing and translating business needs into long-term solution data models.
Evaluating existing data systems.
Working with the development team to create conceptual data models and data flows.
Developing best practices for data coding to ensure consistency within the system.
Reviewing modifications of existing systems for cross-compatibility.
Implementing data strategies and developing physical data models.
Updating and optimizing local and metadata models.
Evaluating implemented data systems for variances, discrepancies, and efficiency.
Troubleshooting and optimizing data systems.

Ability to function in a multi-system Microsoft environment using Word, Outlook, TriWest Intranet, the Internet, and department software applications.

Information Management:
Ability to manage large amounts of complex information easily, communicates clearly, and draws sound conclusions.

Multi-Tasking / Time Management:
Prioritize and manage actions to meet changing deadlines and requirements within a high volume, high stress environment.

Ability to organize people or tasks, adjust to priorities, learn systems, within time constraints and with available resources; detail-oriented.

Problem Solving / Analysis:
Ability to solve problems through systematic analysis of processes with sound judgment; has a realistic understanding of relevant issues.

Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of data warehouse design; data modeling; proficiency with SQL; working knowledge of report and dashboard development; strong knowledge of SQL Server / Snowflake databases; working knowledge of Oracle databases.

Working Conditions

Working Conditions:

Works non-standard hours as required
Works within a standard office environment or remote, with less than 10% travel
Extensive computer work with prolonged periods of sitting

*Annual base salary for Colorado and Washington State residents: $103,000 - $114,000 depending on experience*
