As an SSD Design Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., Solid State Drive (SSD) team, you are responsible for taking solid-state drives from design to high-volume manufacturing.
This will involve product characterization, margin analysis, performance/power characterization, internal/external customer support, and manufacturing support. You will also be responsible for improving performance, improving testability, and identifying NAND/DRAM reliability issues. Other areas of responsibility include electrical and physical failure analysis, implementation of new device qualifications, characterization development, and yield evaluation/improvement.

What's Encouraged Daily

Perform Test Development/Analysis
  • Develop and design test plans/scripts to evaluate new product features
  • Evaluate existing test plans/scripts to improve test coverage and efficiency
  • Identify and/or develop test tools to enable failure analysis and improve testability
  • Perform Product Test and Failure Analysis
  • Perform product testing to evaluate and support new product development
  • Analyze failures to determine root cause of issues
  • Drive issues to closure by interfacing/collaborating with other product development teams
  • Verify Architecture specifications to test plan alignment by generating a Master Test Plan on each product


Support Internal/External Customers
  • Provide technical support (e.g. failure analysis, questions, etc.) to any internal or external customer as part of product development
  • Provide Failure Analysis training to internal teams
  • Support customer and internal audits
  • Drive common debug strategy into individual programs


Safety and Procedure
  • Follow established policies and procedures
  • Drive common processes across System Engineering
  • Recognize and resolve safety or environmental issues, including assistance to develop appropriate procedures and documentation
  • Use available resources to complete tasks in a safe and efficient manner


How to Qualify
  • BSEE/BSCS or related field of study
  • In-depth knowledge of one or more interface standards such as SATA, SAS, and PCIe
  • Understanding of NAND memory operation.
  • Hands-on experience with logic analyzers, bus analyzers, and digital oscilloscopes.
  • Programming experience in C and Python
  • Familiarity with Windows, and Linux.
  • The ability to drive engineering efforts through all aspects of new product development and system-level debug.
  • The ability to analyze problems, diagnose root causes, and apply corrective actions.


For this position, you must have the ability to work in a team environment as well as the ability to work and maintain good relationships with worldwide suppliers and customers It is also essential that you have very good English verbal and written skills in addition to excellent documentation, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$111,000.00 - $190,000.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.
