Location: 100% Remote ( Eastern Time )

Conversion/Extension is possible dependent on performance - The ideal candidate should be experienced in data integration, writing ETL code in Python to load data into Elasticsearch and other fraud applications within Velera. Candidates should have experience with DevOps practices and tools like Docker or Kubernetes. Experience supporting applications in a production environment, especially managing elastic clusters, and troubleshooting potential issues within the elastic stack is also important. Candidates should be able to work independently without a lot of oversight. The ability to think out of the box to come up with creative solutions is essential for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize programing for fraud detection and intelligence activities across various tools and data elements which analyze and identify fraudulent activities and transactions across various channels and ensure proper mitigation efforts are taken on any significant intelligence leads related to cross channel fraud and risk issues.
- Program advanced queries and procedures in Lucene and Python to advance the tactical and strategic mission of Risk Intelligence.
- Conduct research and analysis on worldwide fraud threats against Velera and its clients.
- Analyze available datasets to identify trends and patterns, detect anomalies, and map financial and criminal networks through multiple tools such as search engines, proprietary methods, and tools to manipulate large data sets.
- Transform data into actionable information for decision-makers.
- Support Risk Solutions / Risk Intelligence data standards and offer recommendations for current and future needs.
- Develop and deliver high quality actionable intelligence products based on all source data.
- Partner with key organizational stakeholders and departments to understand their key business and marketing challenges, assess and prioritize opportunities, and work efforts and business impact.
- Provide thought leadership in design of methods and selection of fraud data set(s) to be employed to bring data driven insight to both internal fraud analytics teams and member-owners.
- Demonstrate understanding of impact of Analytics solutions and data on Velera s business operations and develop plans accordingly.
- Provide advice and counsel to Velera Product Team, Enterprise Risk, Risk Services, and Information Technology regarding additional fraud analytics and reporting opportunities.
- Facilitate communication between staff, management, vendors, and other technology resources within the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline.
- Advanced Lucene and Python knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of Elasticsearch architecture
- (3)Three years of experience with ETL Development
- Experience in administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- Demonstrated self-starter with proven ability to execute work with minimal supervision
- Analytical professional with 6+ years of experience in Fraud, Data Science, Modelling or Risk areas
- Experience working with BI tools such as Tableau and PowerBI preferred (but not required)
- Experience working with Information Technology/Information Security personnel and understanding how software/hardware solutions can be applied to mitigate fraud
