Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced OpenShift Administrator with a strong background in VMware to OpenShift Virtualization (OCP V) migrations. This role is critical in preparing and managing bare metal OpenShift environments for seamless workload migrations, ensuring that VMDK based virtual machines are migrated and operate identically within OpenShift as they did in VMware.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy, configure, and manage OpenShift Virtualization and core OpenShift on bare metal hardware.
- Lead and execute VMware to OpenShift VM migrations, including importing VMDK files as unfactored virtual machines.
- Ensure migrated workloads maintain full functionality and performance parity post migration.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, storage, and networking teams to ensure optimal environment readiness.
- Monitor and troubleshoot OpenShift clusters and virtualized workloads.
- Document migration processes, configurations, and best practices.
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams during and after migrations.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience with OpenShift Virtualization and bare metal OpenShift deployments.
- Hands on experience with VMware vSphere, VMDK handling, and virtual machine migration strategies.
- Strong understanding of storage and networking in virtualized and containerized environments.
- Proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration.
- Familiarity with Windows Server administration in virtualized environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across compute, storage, and network layers.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Red Hat certifications (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE, or OpenShift-specific certs).
- Experience with tools like virt-v2v, MTV (Migration Toolkit for Virtualization), or similar.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices (optional but beneficial)
