TEKsystems client in the Finger Lakes area is seeking an IT Operations Manager on a contract to hire basis. An ideal candidate will have experience with higher level technical support, along with experience leading teams within a medium to large sized organization. 
Description
Seeking a strategic, hands-on Manager of Desktop Services to lead a high-performing team of 20+ supporting field desktop services, server and application support across multiple hospital campuses and outpatient facilities. This role is critical to maintaining and evolving our end-user technology environment, supporting thousands of clinical and administrative staff.
Primary Responsibility will include long-term planning, and specialized projects that enhance the digital experience for our customers.
- This role may require the manager to be hands on and to jump in for complex technical issues and solutions.
- Understanding in both hardware and applications could be advantageous for this strategic role.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Operations
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 20+ desktop support technicians across multiple sites
Oversee scheduling, performance evaluations, and professional development
Ensure timely resolution of service requests and incidents with a focus on customer satisfaction
Technical Oversight
Manage deployment, maintenance, and lifecycle of desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals
Oversee imaging, patching, and software distribution using enterprise tools (e.g., SCCM, Intune)
Maintain inventory accuracy and asset tracking across all locations
Project Management & Innovation
Lead specialized desktop-related projects such as hardware refreshes, clinical workstation upgrades, and device standardization
Collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, and clinical informatics teams on cross-functional initiatives
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance user experience
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure adherence to HIPAA, security policies, and ITIL best practices
Maintain documentation for procedures, configurations, and support workflows
Participate in audits and contribute to risk mitigation strategies
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of desktop support experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
Experience in healthcare IT environments strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of Windows OS, Active Directory, MDM tools, and ticketing systems
