Job Details

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Engineering Process Technician to contribute to the process improvement and management of new assembly lines for our advanced cell manufacturing equipment for our cutting-edge Tesla Energy Batteries. The Battery is one of the most complex and challenging components designed and manufactured at Tesla. This is an exciting opportunity to build a world-class manufacturing facility from the ground up. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work on a critical subsystem of incredibly exciting products. The Engineering Process Technician will apply their technical skills to setup, operate, and adjust equipment in development and full-scale production phases. The Engineering Process Technician is a key member of the process development team focused on developing innovative processes, equipment, and tooling to accelerate the world's transition to GWh Hours of sustainable energy. They will work closely with the Process Engineering (Design and Manufacturing) Team, the Quality Team, and Production Team to bring the new product from initial design, through prototype development and finally into full sustaining production.

Responsibilities
  • Perform equipment setup, operation, adjustments, and minor preventative maintenance to meet safety, quality, and efficiency across development stages
  • Inspect and test finished product during and after start-up and full-scale production phase
  • Collaborate with process & quality engineering to develop and refine test methods
  • Conduct analytical tests, measure and record data using specified tools and software
  • Maintain work area safety, cleanliness, and organization while supporting continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assist in utilizing SPC data to define operating limits, robustness, and action thresholds for equipment processes
  • Support engineering and manufacturing activities including 5S, lean manufacturing, and material handling improvements

Requirements
  • Associate of Science degree, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a production process technician with focus on process development, improvement, troubleshooting, data analysis, constraint analysis, and flow optimization
  • Ability to identify critical process parameters and apply statistical methods to process measurement and control
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturability, process design, process validation, assembly methods, and cost reduction methodologies
  • Experience in data collection and analysis within a high-volume automated manufacturing environment
  • Background in roll winding, conveyance, slurry handling and mixing, roll-to-roll coating, and tolerances on the micron scale
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English communication
Essential Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to stand for up to 12 hours on shift
  • Must be able to walk, kneel, bend, push, pull and reach for the majority of the shift
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
