Job Title: Specialty Software Engineer/Full Stack Core Java

Location: Charlotte, NC

Contract Duration: 24 months (No current plans to convert to FTE)

RTO Schedule: 3 days in office MANDATORY

Job Description:

As a Specialty Software Engineer, you will:

• Consult on and participate in moderately complex initiatives within Specialty Software Engineering.
• Contribute to large-scale planning and deliverables related to Specialty Software Engineering.
• Review and analyze moderately complex engineering challenges requiring in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
• Resolve moderately complex issues and collaborate with others to meet deliverables while leveraging a solid understanding of function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with client personnel in Specialty Software Engineering.

Responsibilities:

• Develop web applications using Angular and Java.
• Write Java batch applications for overnight processing.
• Write one-off applications for tasks such as moving archive data or monitoring SQL queries for high CPU usage.
• Perform high-level technical and analytical roles as an individual contributor.
• Write unit tests and ensure code quality, free from common bugs (e.g., SQL injection).
• Create/modify SQL Server database objects (tables, views, stored procedures, etc.).
• Work with large data sets, focusing on computational efficiency, parallelism, and scalability.
• Participate in Agile team activities, including daily scrum meetings and sprint planning sessions.
• Manage library dependencies using Gradle build system.
• Troubleshoot failed builds.

Required Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience in Specialty Software Engineering or equivalent (work/consulting experience, training, military experience, education).
• Proficiency in full stack engineering, including Angular and Core Java.
• Strong SQL querying skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems effectively.
• Experience with Agile methodologies is helpful.
• Banking experience is a plus.

Additional Notes:

• This position is a backfill role.
• Interviewing will be done in person to ensure authenticity.
• FTEs on the team are being reassigned to redesign the architecture for a re-launch of the risk simulation software. Contractors will maintain the current BAU iteration.
• Candidates should be versatile and motivated to solve various problems.
