We are building an AI-first alternative to Shopify, Squarespace, and Tiktok Shops. Our platform designs and launches your shop and entire marketing campaign, providing data-driven insights within days. Job Details

Who We Need: We are looking for a senior backend engineer with 4+ years of experience (up to 10-11 years) who has hands-on experience with Kafka, ClickHouse, and event-driven architectures. The ideal candidate is a "frontline firefighter" who has managed systems at scale (thousands/millions of users) and experienced the full lifecycle of scaling analytics/event-processing infrastructure 1.

Responsibilities:
  • Architect and implement backend systems in TypeScript/Node.
  • Design and build an ingestion pipeline for our analytics/insights products with > 99.99% uptime on Kafka, ClickHouse, and Redis.
  • Improve CI/CD stability.
  • Build out durable/distributed cart/hosting for our ecommerce product.
  • Deploy a multi-tenant NextJS app for shops in Cloudflare.
  • Mentor junior engineers on best practices 1.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with Kafka and distributed systems.
  • Experience with real-time event processing and event-driven architectures.
  • Strong CS fundamentals required for distributed systems.
  • Experience managing systems at scale and handling unexpected failures.
  • Ability to translate technical infrastructure needs into business requirements 1.

Disqualifiers:
  • Less than 4 years of experience or limited to companies with only dozens of customers.
  • Engineers from large public companies who lack hands-on building experience.
  • Lack of CS fundamentals required for distributed systems.
  • No direct experience with real-time event processing 1.

Ideal Candidate Background:
  • CS or STEM degree preferred (or equivalent additional experience).
  • Experience from pre-Series D startups that built similar systems.
  • Worked at companies like Amplitude, Twilio, Stripe, PostHog, or Sentry.
  • Balanced system reliability with business/product needs.
  • Can architect solutions that scale with rapid user growth 1.

Key Signals:
  • Managed systems through unexpected failures and learned valuable lessons.
  • Can speak to specific technical challenges overcome with Kafka or similar technologies.
  • Shows deep understanding of distributed systems principles and failure modes.
  • Can translate between technical infrastructure and business needs 1.
