Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Lake Engineer with strong expertise in AWS Data Lake solutions and modern cloud data engineering practices. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing scalable data lake architectures, along with strong proficiency in AWS services, automation, and leveraging AI-powered coding tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain large-scale Data Lake solutions using AWS Lake Formation.

  • Develop and optimize Lambda functions in Python to support data ingestion, transformation, and automation workflows.

  • Work with AWS Glue to design ETL pipelines and orchestrate data processing at scale.

  • Manage and optimize DynamoDB for high-performance data storage and retrieval.

  • Leverage AI-assisted coding tools (Amazon Q preferred, others acceptable) to improve development efficiency and code quality.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Data Scientists, Analysts, and Architects to deliver high-quality, reliable data solutions.

  • Implement best practices for data governance, security, and compliance in cloud environments.

  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing data pipelines for performance and cost efficiency.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 15 years of IT professional experience in data engineering, with a focus on cloud-based solutions.

  • Proven expertise in AWS Data Lake / Lake Formation.

  • Strong proficiency in Python and developing AWS Lambda functions.

  • Hands-on experience with AWS Glue for ETL/ELT workloads.

  • Solid knowledge of DynamoDB data modeling, indexing, and optimization.

  • Experience with AI-assisted coding tools (Amazon Q, GitHub Copilot, etc.).

  • Strong understanding of cloud data governance, performance optimization, and cost management.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certification (Data Analytics, Solutions Architect, or similar).

  • Experience integrating data lake solutions with advanced analytics, ML/AI platforms, or BI tools.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills to mentor junior engineers.
