Role :Embedded Software Test Engineer 

Location : Augusta GA (Onsite)

 

The Embedded Software Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring quality designs through comprehensive software requirement validation.  Specifically, we are seeking an individual that can develop and execute embedded software and module testing, long-term growth strategies and continuous improvement.  The vision for our Validation Department is a highly credible, influential, and capable operation held in the highest regard and characterized by excellence.

  

The position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of different components, subsystems and vehicles.  The position requires the technical expertise to develop software test cases and lead software validation testing.  The Software Test Engineer works as part of a team of developers, technicians and engineers in order to bring software solutions to market. 

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Generating comprehensive test cases from functional requirements through understanding of software and vehicle architecture.
  • Design and implement automated test scripts and manual test procedures that validate product requirements and functional specifications, design documents and external application standards.
  • Reviewing system requirements specifications and support of software test plans, test specifications, test cases, test reports, DVP&R, DFMEA and bug tracking.
  • Aid in development and maintenance of automated test software tools. Communicate with developers on improving test design and solving technical issues encountered.
  • Aid in development of schematics, test setups and test scripts for open loop test bench through Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL).
  • Support junior team members and technicians. 

Essential Skills or Knowledge: 

  • Direct experience in Matlab and Simulink.
  • Experience in tools including CANalyzer, PCAN, CANape, EcoCAL, Polarion ALM.
  • Knowledge of CAN based protocols, CCP, CANOpen.
  • Competency in Microsoft products including Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to lead a team and work as a member of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Controls and software capabilities.
  • Discipline in software test and verification methodologies.
  • Experience in all phases of the testing cycle including reviews, change control meetings and project status meetings. 

Desired Experience:

  • Automotive, EV/HEV domain
  • Controller, hardware, sensor knowledge.
  • Python Scripting
  • HIL testing using dSPACE Automation Desk and Control Desk
  • Exposure to wireless technologies like BT, Wi-Fi

  

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field and 3+ years’ experience in embedded software and testing is required
