The Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) is the Premier Vertical Lift military program in the world. Bell's FLRAA aircraft will become the Army's primary assault aircraft for the next 30 years, sunsetting UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters and advancing the Army's assault capabilities. The FLRAA program is utilizing the latest in cutting edge technology to expand the United States Army's tactical advantage in future conflicts. Aircraft Level - System Test Engineer(s), FLRAA:
Come work with some of the most innovative and talented teams to integrate and test complex aircraft subsystems. As a world class platform integrator, you will ensure that all the aircraft subsystems and software meet design and safety requirements for the most efficient and safe platform for the pilots and crew through development and execution of a comprehensive and effective testing program. At Bell you will work with suppliers and customers, to test mission requirements with the latest technology and modular architecture.
You will be doing end to end testing of all aircraft functions including Avionics & Mission Systems, Flight Controls, Hazards and Failure Modes and all other miscellaneous functional testing.
Bring your experience and ideas and help us test the aircraft of the future in our Systems Integration labs (SIL). You will be guiding the integration and testing across multiple aircraft systems including sensors, communications, navigation, flight controls and many more. You'll work with test pilots, Integrated Product Teams and technicians to support the development, buildup, and testing of the next generation of aircraft systems.
This role will be an integral part of the team, working closely with customers and internal technical SMEs. You'll be able to hone your technical abilities on significant engineering problems, all while gaining experience in leadership and communication. You'll leverage information available, facilities, and technical experience to guide the development and execution of aircraft level testing for the new platform.
This role is located in both Fort Worth, TX headquarters and the Classified SIL in Arlington, TX with occasional travel to Amarillo, TX required per business needs.
What You'll Be Doing as an Aircraft Level - System Test Engineer:
Create and execute comprehensive aircraft level test plans by leveraging safety analysis, failure modes, and hazards assessments from all aircraft subsystems.
Manage aircraft and System Integration Lab (SIL) hardware and software installation, buildup, and conformity on the next generation platforms.
Lead aircraft test readiness activities including resource management, scheduling, and artifact submission for the next generation of Bell aircraft.
Work with subsystem and software engineers responsible for the development of software and hardware systems.
Work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams to define and solve problems as they arise during test and eval of the integrated systems.
Work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams to adhere and execute an effective test program.
Skills You Bring To this Role:
Knowledge of one or more aircraft systems including but not limited to flight controls, avionics, mission systems, electrical power, hydraulics, engines, fuel. Knowledge of multiple systems desired.
Experience in developing and running end-to-end aircraft level tests and integration plans in a SIL environment.
Experience in coordinating and leading cross functional teams to execute per testing plans.
Experience in leading technical discussions regarding aircraft functionality, testing readiness, hardware/software conformity, with stakeholders of various levels of subject matter proficiency.
Knowledge of one or more communication standards such as ARINC 429, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, MIL-STD-1553 and Networking (TCP/IP, TSN, DDS). Knowledge of multiple is desired.
Experience in developing and running on-aircraft Functional Test Procedures (FTPs), and supporting flight test activities to include troubleshooting, pre and post flight briefs, and telemetry support is desired.
Experience with test environment accreditation activities such as model substantiation, configuration management, accreditation plan buildup and delivery, is desired.
Knowledge of regulatory guidance and program planning related to aircraft test programs, and experience working with programs to ensure adherence to the associated program plans.
Understanding of certification of airborne system/software processes (DO-178C, DO-297, DO-326, DO-254, and ARP 4754A) is desired.
What You Need to Be Successful:
Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science is required. Mechanical or Other Engineering degrees may be considered with applicable experience. Advanced degrees will be considered as additional experience. Related degrees with relevant experience will be considered.
Must be able to gain and maintain a US Govt Secret Security Clearance
Multiple positions available with at least 2 years of experience developing and executing aircraft system test plans in a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) System Integration Lab (SIL) environment. At least 10 years of experience is highly preferred.
