Data Center Technician

Role Overview
Responsible for preparing, staging, and performing hardware installations, startups, and shutdowns in a data center environment. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow established protocols to ensure operational efficiency and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, stage, and execute hardware installations and removals (including racks, hard drives, and switches) following detailed checklists and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform post-installation quality checks, verifying grounding, labeling, and cabling compliance with safety protocols and network design standards.
  • Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting, quickly identifying root causes and replacing faulty components to minimize downtime.
  • Decommission hardware and perform refresh tasks such as memory upgrades and OS rebuilds with minimal supervision.
  • Communicate and escalate incidents promptly to Data Center Technician Leads in accordance with established procedures.
  • Participate in safety briefings, complete required training, and adhere to all safety guidelines for equipment handling and hazard prevention.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Familiarity with productivity tools for documentation and communication.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Previous data center experience is a plus.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
