Job Description:
The position:
Apex is seeking a dynamic Senior Consultant with strong consultative skills to serve as a DevOps Engineer within Apex Systems Solutions Delivery Organization. This role will play a key role on project teams with Apex clients to design and deliver DevOps solutions to both cloud-based and on-premise environments. This role will also provide technical subject matter expertise for Apex sales and account teams during the scoping of new DevOps platform opportunities.

Responsibilities:
  • Help coach and mentor more junior team members
  • Work on spinning up a new Gitlab environment
  • Buildout the CI/CD pipeline template to be used by each applications team
  • Build common terraform modules to be used in the pipeline
  • Build IaC modules to construct required AWS resources from GovCloud
  • Consult with application teams on how to move applications to the AWS Cloud
  • Aid with secret store use and setup
  • Resource rehydration automation
  • Aid with application resiliency design in AWS
  • Advise clients on DevOps best practices and leverage the strengths of the platform to meet the specific requirements and use cases around architecture, standards and governance
  • Develop and maintain strong internal and external customer relationships
  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge and implementation skills. Stay current on relevant technology trends and practices. Build trust and respect among internal and external stakeholders and demonstrate collaborative teamwork
  • Produce high quality deliverables, meet project deadlines, and take responsibility for engagement success. Demonstrate a passion for quality and process improvement
  • Demonstrate professional level consulting skills and communication/presentation skills
  • Continually innovate, seek creative solutions, and find new ways of adding value. Listen and seek to understand the client and meet their needs, providing consultative guidance. Stay attuned to the future needs of the client and work with internal resources to identify opportunities. Proactively provide solutions and approach adversity with a solution-focused mindset
  • Identify and evaluate new team members through professional networking and technical screening

Technical Requirements:
  • Advanced Terraform scripting experience
  • GitLab repo & pipeline setup and modernization experience
  • Strong AWS cloud experience (AWS GovCloud is a plus)
  • AWS cloud migration experience
  • AWS secrets manager
  • Some programming language knowledge required (python preferred)

Experience:
  • 4+ years of experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • 3+ years experience in AWS cloud
  • 3+ years working with containerization technologies
  • Collaborate with other developers, testers, and system engineers to ensure quality product enhancements.
  • Experienced with working with teams of developers and other technical professionals in an Agile delivery framework
  • Positive relationship builder able to navigate through complex situations to ensure the most robust and pragmatic solution
  • Strong analytical skills and the aptitude to quickly identify gaps and risks
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills including the ability to help stakeholders navigate the trade-offs and alternatives to various solution architectures
  • BA/BS required, preferably in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related fields (applicable education and experience may be substituted)
