We are seeking an experienced and outstanding MQ Administrator for one of our esteemed clients.
Role: MQ Admin with Autopilot 6
Location: Dallas/ Tampa / Jersey City – Onsite
Role Description:
MQ admin with Autopilot 6" job description focuses on the administration and management of IBM MQ (formerly WebSphere MQ) environments, with the added responsibility of utilizing Autopilot 6, which is specifically the Nastel AutoPilot 6 tool, for monitoring and managing the MQ infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- IBM MQ Administration: This involves installing, configuring, administering, and supporting IBM MQ, including creating and managing queue managers, queues, channels, and listeners.
- Nastel AutoPilot 6 Utilization: Utilizing Autopilot 6 for tasks like monitoring MQ systems for uptime, performance, and potential issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of MQ objects. This implies familiarity with Nastel tools like AutoPilot and Nastel Navigator.
- MQ Security Administration: Implementing and maintaining security measures within the MQ environment, including configuring SSL/TLS, authentication, and authorization.
- Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution: Identifying and resolving MQ-related issues, such as performance problems, queue management issues, and connectivity problems, potentially utilizing monitoring tools like AutoPilot 6.
- Automation: Automating MQ tasks using scripting languages like Shell or Python to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Collaboration: Working with application teams to ensure seamless MQ integration and supporting their needs.
- High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Implementing and supporting high availability (HA) solutions and participating in disaster recovery (DR) activities to ensure business continuity.
- Monitoring and Maintenance: Regularly monitoring MQ systems, applying patches, updates, and configuration changes, and performing backups and recoveries.
- Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of MQ configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps.
Required Skills and Experience:
- IBM MQ Administration Expertise: Experience with installing, configuring, and managing IBM MQ, including distributed platforms.
- Nastel AutoPilot Experience: Hands-on experience with Nastel AutoPilot 6 and other relevant Nastel tools.
- Scripting Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell or Python for automation.
- Security Knowledge: Understanding of MQ security concepts and protocols, including SSL/TLS, authentication, and authorization.
- Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to troubleshoot MQ-related issues effectively.
- Collaboration & Communication: Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Experience with implementing and supporting HA and DR solutions for MQ.
- Monitoring Tools Experience: Familiarity with monitoring tools, including potentially Nastel AutoPilot 6.
- Other Relevant Skills: Experience with deploying IBM MQ in containers like Kubernetes, administering other messaging systems like Kafka
