Security Data Analyst / Vulnerability Management Analyst

Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Security Data Analyst to support our vulnerability management and exposure monitoring initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience working with data visualization tools, vulnerability scanning platforms, and security monitoring solutions to help drive effective risk mitigation strategies. You ll be responsible for analyzing complex datasets, building dashboards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support security and patch management programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret large, complex datasets using Microsoft Excel (including advanced functions like PivotTables and VLOOKUP) to identify trends, anomalies, and actionable insights.
  • Design and develop Power BI dashboards to visualize vulnerability, remediation, and exposure data for technical and executive audiences.
  • Use Splunk to run search queries, analyze logs, and create dashboards for monitoring exposures and identifying potential threats.
  • Support the vulnerability and patch management lifecycle by helping track remediation progress, exposure levels, and risk prioritization.
  • Collaborate with security engineers, system administrators, and IT stakeholders to recommend and track mitigations and remediations.
  • Assist with the implementation and ongoing operation of vulnerability scanning tools.
  • Apply knowledge of OWASP top vulnerabilities and system/application threat models in analysis and remediation processes.
  • Organize tasks efficiently, manage competing priorities, and ensure timely delivery of key project milestones and reports.
  • Communicate complex security issues clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 1 3 years of experience in IT or security operations.
  • Hands-on experience supporting vulnerability or patch management programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Splunk.
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Qualys, Nessus, Tenable) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux/UNIX operating systems.
  • Solid understanding of system/application security threats (e.g., XSS, code injection, buffer overflow).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to manage tasks effectively, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):

  • Security certifications (e.g., Security+, GSEC, or equivalent)
  • Experience with patch deployment tools or remediation tracking platforms
  • Exposure to security frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS)

The compensation range for this position is $40 to $50

(dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
