Principal Data Analyst – Healthcare Informatics
We are seeking a highly motivated and seasoned Principal Data Analyst with strong experience in healthcare informatics. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise working with EMR data, healthcare claims, and member enrollment data, and a passion for solving problems, analyzing data, and supporting population health and value-based care solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Methods & Specifications:
• Develop and maintain business logic specifications for BI and analytic solutions.
• Document methods, processes, and logic for seamless hand-offs.
• Client Interaction:
• Work with clients to explain methodologies, address questions, and identify new opportunities.
• Communicate analytical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Data Analysis & Testing:
• Lead data enrichment activities, validate results, and ensure readiness of data for business use.
• Conduct complex analyses, create validation/test plans, and evaluate new data vendors.
• Collaboration:
• Partner with methodologists, data scientists, clinicians, and engineers to ensure accurate implementation.
• Support clinical informatics team with data mapping and validation.
• Project Management:
• Define and maintain product requirements using EMR and claims data.
• Drive complex projects with strong communication and organizational skills.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s/Master’s in Mathematics, Health Informatics, Health Information Management, or related field.
• 5+ years’ experience working with EMR data and writing analytics specifications (FHIR/HL7).
• 5+ years’ experience in data analysis (SQL/Spark SQL, validation, enrichment).
• Strong knowledge of medical coding systems (ICD-9/10, CPT, SNOMED, HCPCS, LOINC, RxNorm, DRG, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with healthcare data warehouses and multiple data sources.
• Understanding of healthcare data quality issues and their impact on analytics.
• Proven ability to manage and deliver complex projects end-to-end.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with normalized pricing, grouping methodologies, or payer/provider datasets.
• Familiarity with CMS regulations and healthcare policy landscape.
• Strong communication skills with technical and business audiences.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
