Controller

A high-growth professional services firm is seeking a hands-on and strategic Controller to lead and scale its accounting operations. With rapid expansion on the horizon including multiple pending acquisitions this role is ideal for a CPA who thrives in a dynamic environment and is ready to make a lasting impact during a transformational phase.

This role reports directly to the CFO and is responsible for managing a full-spectrum accounting team. The Controller will drive operational excellence across financial systems, lead audit and compliance efforts, and play a critical role in post-acquisition integration.

Focus:

  • Own financial reporting across the enterprise leading the monthly close, compliance, internal controls, and consolidated reporting across multiple states.
  • Serve as a key business partner to the CFO and executive team supporting financial strategy, capital investment decisions, and long-range planning.
  • Oversee due diligence and integration efforts related to upcoming M&A activity.
  • Manage and mentor a team of accountants and specialists across AR, AP, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Lead initiatives for ERP implementation, systems automation, and financial data integrity.
  • Ensure U.S. GAAP compliance, support SOX readiness, and drive internal audit processes.
  • Oversee cash flow forecasting, treasury management, and tax compliance in a multi-state environment.
  • Continuously improve processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency as the company scales.

Skill Set:

  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Active CPA license (Texas preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in a Controller or Director-level role.
  • Deep technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Demonstrated experience managing accounting through M&A events and integration.
  • Background in mid-sized environments ($50M $100M in revenue), ideally in services, consulting, or SaaS sectors.
  • Expertise in ERP systems implementation and process automation.
  • Skilled leader who has managed and grown accounting teams in multi-entity companies.
  • Bonus if you bring Big 4 public accounting experience, MBA, or exposure to PE/VC-backed businesses.
