Overview


We are seeking a strategic, hands-on leader to drive the digital transformation of our operations. This direct hire role is based in Bloomington, MN, with a hybrid work schedule of four days onsite and one day remote each week. The position is responsible for designing, prototyping, and implementing a fully integrated system that reimagines how we operate across functions - from estimation and engineering to procurement, fabrication, and installation.


This individual will lead the development of a working prototype over 12-18 months and then define a practical roadmap for enterprise-wide adoption. The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge, strong business acumen, and the ability to influence across the organization.



Key Responsibilities


Strategic Leadership & Vision



  • Define and promote a vision for an end-to-end digital platform that aligns with organizational goals.

  • Analyze current workflows and identify opportunities for automation or redesign.

  • Collaborate with department leaders to gather requirements and prioritize initiatives.

  • Develop a phased, realistic implementation roadmap based on the prototype.


Prototype Design & Development



  • Lead the design of a working prototype that integrates:

    • Engineering: BIM/CAD integration and drawing automation

    • Take-Offs: Engineered material quantification tools

    • Procurement: Vendor portals, automated purchasing systems

    • Inventory: Real-time material tracking and visibility

    • Fabrication & Assembly: Shop floor production integration

    • Field Operations: Project and installation coordination tools



  • Focus on using off-the-shelf solutions with minimal customization to prove concepts quickly.


Technology & System Integration



  • Evaluate, select, and implement commercial software solutions.

  • Build or integrate APIs, middleware, and data architecture.

  • Design and manage databases that support analytics and operational transparency.

  • Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and user-centric.


Execution Leadership & Collaboration



  • Act as the lead technical authority and transformation advocate across teams.

  • Partner with internal digital teams, IT, and business units.

  • Manage relationships with external vendors and solution providers.


Testing, Learning, and Scaling



  • Pilot new workflows and gather user feedback to iterate and refine.

  • Establish KPIs to evaluate effectiveness (e.g., time savings, error reduction, cost improvements).

  • Document key learnings and create a scalable deployment plan.

  • Experience with ERP, CAD/BIM, procurement, inventory, and project management platforms.


Relevant Tools & Technologies



  • Estimation: Bluebeam, PlanSwift, ProEst

  • Design & Modeling: AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Inventor

  • ERP/Manufacturing: SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor, Viewpoint, IFS

  • Procurement & Inventory: NetSuite, Coupa, or equivalent

  • Field Management: Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud

  • Development experience in Python, JavaScript, SQL a plus


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Architecture, or Business.

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in business transformation or technology implementation.

  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing people, programs, or enterprise initiatives.

  • Background in construction, glazing, or manufacturing is strongly preferred.

  • Experience supporting operations across multiple locations or facilities.
