Job Title: Senior IT Project Manager Modernization
Duration: 12 Months+
Location: Providence, RI
Job Summary
The Senior IT Project Manager will lead and coordinate complex modernization initiatives within the Department of State, ensuring seamless integration between internal teams, external vendors, and stakeholders. This role requires the management of multiple concurrent workstreams, comprehensive documentation oversight, rigorous quality control, and proactive risk and issue management.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate project deliverables across multiple vendors and State project teams to ensure timely delivery.
- Manage and integrate multiple project workstreams, maintaining a comprehensive master schedule.
- Track and mitigate project risks; maintain a RAID log and RACI matrix with stakeholders.
- Oversee documentation of system functionality, application support procedures, business workflows, and role-based access.
- Ensure quality assurance of vendor deliverables prior to acceptance.
- Manage change control processes, scope changes, and report delays or roadblocks.
- Provide detailed weekly status reports and periodic updates on vendor performance.
- Oversee project budget and financial tracking.
- Lead configuration, testing (unit, regression, performance, UAT), and implementation phases.
- Collaborate with Change Management and Agency Readiness teams to ensure effective training and adoption.
- Focus on user experience optimization, particularly for digital portals serving diverse user groups.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT project or program management, preferably with a management or IT consulting firm.
- Proven track record managing large-scale implementation projects with multiple vendors.
- Experience leading constituent-facing or digital portal initiatives.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills in multi-agency environments.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and time management capabilities.
- Proficiency with project and collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in State or Government modernization initiatives.
- PMP or other project management certifications.
- Experience with ERP implementations and system configuration oversight.
