Job Details

Job Summary:

The Client is seeking a Network Technician Consultant to join their Division of Technology Services. This role will assist in implementing LAN and wireless infrastructure, managing network documentation, and contributing to a dashboard-driven view of agency assets. The position reports directly to the Senior Network Architect.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and implement LAN and wireless infrastructure including switches, cabling, access points, and other components.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues; perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
  • Monitor and optimize network performance; document incident resolution paths.
  • Maintain network diagrams, SOPs, and technical documentation.
  • Support hardware/network design, configuration, and infrastructure planning.
  • Maintain and update network equipment inventory and assist with lifecycle planning.
  • Collaborate with Facilities and Finance teams to maintain up-to-date inventory of client locations and related data.
  • Produce and maintain centralized dashboards and updated floorplans for all facilities.
  • Conduct physical audits of network closets and ensure industry-standard cable management.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports and documentation of network and facility data.

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years experience with data network services and communications (LAN/WAN, wireless, cabling, switches).
  • 5+ years experience in data network design and equipment configurations.
  • 5+ years experience with office automation systems, fiber optics, and microcomputer hardware/software.
  • Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and network analysis skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of network configuration & protocols.
  • Experience with cable management, patch panels, and telecom/network closets.
  • Familiarity with wireless infrastructure, cloud networking (SD-WAN, Azure), and VoIP technologies.
  • Experience creating and maintaining network diagrams (CAD/PDF) and dashboards.

Education:

  • Bachelor s Degree in Information Technology Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
    (Relevant experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.)
