About:
We are seeking a skilled RPGLE Programmer to join our client's IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in RPGLE programming on IBM iSeries (AS/400) systems and a passion for developing and maintaining high-quality applications. This role involves collaborating with business analysts and IT professionals to design, code, test, and implement solutions that drive business success. The position is remote and ideal for a proactive problem-solver committed to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain robust RPGLE-based applications that meet business requirements.
Translate business needs into technical specifications and actionable implementation strategies.
Conduct unit testing and participate in system testing to ensure application functionality, quality, and performance.
Troubleshoot, debug, and provide ongoing support for existing applications.
Optimize performance through code refinement and improved database interactions.
Collaborate with IT teams to integrate RPGLE applications with other systems and technologies.
Document programming work and maintain logs in compliance with company standards.
Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance application efficiency and reliability.
Required Skills / Experience:
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
3 5 years of experience in RPGLE programming on IBM iSeries (AS/400) platforms.
Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
Exposure to ERP systems for distributors is preferred.
Proficiency in RPG IV (ILE RPG), RPG Free, CL, and SQL.
Strong understanding of DB2 databases and data access optimization.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Clear communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to manage time and priorities effectively in a dynamic environment.
Knowledge of modernizing legacy RPG applications is highly desirable.
Familiarity with additional programming languages and platforms is a plus.
Adaptability to changing priorities and tasks.
Collaboration skills to work across teams and departments.
