About:

We are seeking a skilled RPGLE Programmer to join our client's IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in RPGLE programming on IBM iSeries (AS/400) systems and a passion for developing and maintaining high-quality applications. This role involves collaborating with business analysts and IT professionals to design, code, test, and implement solutions that drive business success. The position is remote and ideal for a proactive problem-solver committed to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust RPGLE-based applications that meet business requirements.

  • Translate business needs into technical specifications and actionable implementation strategies.

  • Conduct unit testing and participate in system testing to ensure application functionality, quality, and performance.

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and provide ongoing support for existing applications.

  • Optimize performance through code refinement and improved database interactions.

  • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate RPGLE applications with other systems and technologies.

  • Document programming work and maintain logs in compliance with company standards.

  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance application efficiency and reliability.

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 3 5 years of experience in RPGLE programming on IBM iSeries (AS/400) platforms.

  • Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.

  • Exposure to ERP systems for distributors is preferred.

  • Proficiency in RPG IV (ILE RPG), RPG Free, CL, and SQL.

  • Strong understanding of DB2 databases and data access optimization.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Clear communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to manage time and priorities effectively in a dynamic environment.

  • Knowledge of modernizing legacy RPG applications is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with additional programming languages and platforms is a plus.

  • Adaptability to changing priorities and tasks.

  • Collaboration skills to work across teams and departments.

  • Commitment to professional development and industry best practices.
