This position is within the D408 ILS VIRGINIA/OHIO Class Configuration Management Group, specifically in support of OHIO Class logistics. Note: the title "Test Engineer" is used to describe a non-engineering-degreed individual with requisite Navy and/or Navy Logistics experience to perform ILS Configuration Management duties. Candidates with engineering degrees are also welcomed to apply.

This group is responsible for the review of ship drawings, liabilities, and ship change documentation to identify ship configuration worthy items and impacts to those items, already identified and in configuration, by a design product, as well as managing existing life-cycle logistics products (including drawings, onboard repair/replacement parts, technical manuals, and maintenance requirements). Additionally, this group provides support to Navy shipyards and organizations executing maintenance, sustainment, and other life cycle logistics operations for OHIO Class ships.

The candidate will be responsible for the technical analysis of systems, assemblies, and components for the development of configuration and logistics records in support of maintaining the correct configuration information for in-service OHIO submarines (OHIO).

Additional responsibilities include:
  • Determining logistics-worthiness of each standard part authorized to be installed onboard new construction and commissioned ships
  • Updating logistics systems (MFOM-SAS, CDMD-OA,) with appropriate logistics configuration information for as-designed logistics-worthy components
  • Working and communicating with the OHIO Class Configuration Data Manager, Planning Yard engineers, logistics specialists, and Navy Personnel in the preparation of configuration data and resolution of configuration issues.
  • Using contractor and Navy data systems (CDMD-OA, LDS, MFOM-SAS, etc.) to perform technical research and analysis of configuration data records

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years Shipyard and/or US Navy submarine operations or logistics experience
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and using technical design products (Such as Electric Boat and associated Vendor/Contractor Drawings)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years Shipyard and/or US Navy submarine operations or logistics experience
  • Experience with mechanical / electrical systems & components
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and using Electric Boat and/or US Navy logistics and supply chain products (Provisioning Data, Technical Manuals, Maintenance Planning Documentation)
  • MS Access & Excel database experience
  • Familiarity with Electric Boat and DOD logistics systems
