Job Overview – Network Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer for:

• Performing a comprehensive network site survey

• Managing switch migration and cutover

• Installing Access Points (APs) in ceiling locations

• Ensuring accurate implementation of client instructions

• Handling hardware build and decommissioning

Key Responsibilities

• Complete the site survey document provided by the client

• Validate the New Bill of Materials (BOM) and existing BOM

• Populate rack elevation and inspect current rack layout

• Assess and document current Access Point (AP) locations with photos

• Capture photos of:

  • Front and back of rack

  • Existing devices

  • New switches

• Complete a detailed questionnaire for information gathering

• Inspect and photograph existing power socket types

• Ensure power cable compatibility with existing power sources

• Bring all necessary tools, screws, brackets for rack and stack installation

• Mount and stack new network switches per client instructions

• Ensure the new switch stack is operational

• Use laptop with console access and PuTTY installed for switch configuration

• Provide console access to the client for validation

• Migrate existing switch connections to the newly installed switches

• Unmount and safely decommission old switches

• Mount new access points in ceiling locations as specified

Qualifications

• Proven experience in:

  • Network engineering

  • Switch installation and configuration

  • Access Point (AP) deployment

• Proficient with switch stacking and cabling

• Familiar with network infrastructure site surveys and proper documentation

• Ability to work independently and follow a defined project timeline

• Experience with decommissioning network hardware

• Strong attention to detail in documentation and verification

• Capable of lifting and installing hardware into racks and ceilings

• Must have own tools for rack and stack installation

• Must have a laptop with console access and PuTTY installed

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with common switch brands:

  • Cisco, Juniper, HP

• Experience installing Access Points in office environments

• Strong troubleshooting skills to support smooth cutover
