Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Content Writer to support a major platform redesign initiative by leading data and content migration from a legacy website to a new Content Management System (CMS).
Job Responsibilities:
Research, audit, write, and edit web content to support migration from a legacy platform to a new CMS.
Review and restructure existing content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
Translate complex city programs, policies, and services into clear, user-friendly language.
Collaborate with city departments, designers, and developers to validate migrated content.
Ensure content aligns with city branding, digital standards, and accessibility guidelines.
Identify and resolve content gaps, inconsistencies, and migration issues.
Optimize content for readability, engagement, and digital platforms.
Ensure all content reflects the client s voice, tone, and commitment to equity and inclusion.
Confirm content readiness and quality prior to platform launch.
Required Skills & Experience:
Experience writing and editing content for web or digital platforms.
Experience supporting content audits, migrations, or CMS implementations.
Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and digital publishing tools.
Ability to translate complex information into accessible, plain language.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Excellent written communication, editing, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Experience writing for government, public sector, or civic-focused websites.
Understanding of plain language principles and web accessibility guidelines (e.g., WCAG).
Basic knowledge of SEO best practices and web analytics.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including designers, developers, and communications staff.
Ability to analyze content performance and make data-driven improvements.
Strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and communicating effectively with diverse audiences.
